With over 300 guests in attendance, this year’s Business of Biotech was teeming with professionals eager to make connections and share their technologies. The conference featured G. Steven Burrill, founder and CEO of Burrill & Company, as the keynote speaker. The event was comprised of several smaller sessions for topics relating to biotech, including pharma-academia partnerships, fundraising, corporate venture financing, and tours of Moffitt’s facilities.
Following the keynote address, interested conference participants were invited to listen to select Moffitt researchers pitch their discoveries, in the hopes of starting partnerships and collaborations. Finally, Moffitt Cancer Center was proud to award State Senator Jack Latvala, R-Clearwater, the 2014 Moffitt Momentum Award for his hard work in passing legislation in 2012 to increase Moffitt’s share of Florida’s cigarette taxes.
