The Office of Innovation and Industry Alliances offers a nationally recognized, unique, rigorous internship unlike any other tech transfer office in the United States. Interns work directly with experienced professionals both within and outside of the office, with entrepreneurs and inventors, to perform meaningful work on behalf of the Innovation Office and also to gain valuable hands on experience in tech transfer. Through this internship, interns utilize their backgrounds and training to gain education and experience on startup support, patenting & licensing, technology assessments and industry collaboration.
This internship provides practical, real-life experience involving preparation of patent applications, performance of commercial viability assessments, generation of high-impact marketing materials, and launch of technology startups. Interns are fully integrated into the office and will gain experience through the Intern Boot Camp, team building functions, our monthly Speaker Series, and the annual Business of Biotech Conference. Science interns have the opportunity to engage with inventors that work directly with the Innovation Office. Some intern positions may receive compensation, unless already a paid Moffitt employee or receiving student credit. Moffitt seeks both applicants from within the organization as well as external. Moffitt PhD students, Moffitt post-doctoral researchers, undergraduate students, and law students are all encouraged to apply for this program.
