Bridge to a Cure

The Office of Innovation and Industry Alliances launched the Technology and Innovation Fund (TIF) to provide critical funding for technology development studies.

Moffitt Cancer Center researchers and clinicians generate many novel and innovative scientific discoveries but turning these into commercial products is a long and expensive journey. While academic grants primarily fund basic research that leads to discoveries, these innovations are generally too “early” to attract the attention of industry for commercialization. Additional funding is needed to bridge the funding gap from discoveries made at Moffitt in the laboratory to innovations developed and commercialized by industry.

Projects funded by TIF donations include:

• Prototype development and testing
• Personalized medicine studies
• Proof of concept experiments
• Pre-clinical drug studies

All donations to the Fund are tax-deductible and will be deposited with Moffitt Cancer Center’s Foundation. Every dollar counts and an investment in the Fund may lead to a researcher completing the pivotal studies necessary to garner the attention of industry to turn the discovery into a commercial product for the benefit of patients.
